Coasters - July 19th/19th August 2011

Welcome, I'm Geoff Walker Photographer.

On the 30th July I will be commencing a SoFoBoMo project to produce a PDF book about the people and buildings on the farms today that were subdivided from the original Tora Station on the South Wairarapa coast after WWII as rehab blocks for returned servicemen.
A lot has changed in the 60 years since Tora Station was split and this project is to capture not the history but to record the present occupiers and the farm buildings as they are today to add a chapter to the ongoing story of Tora.
If you have stories, photographs or documents that may be of interest Sara Murphy of Hiwikirikiri who will be undertaking research and I would be delighted to hear from you. At this stage email is probably easiest.

How the project works:
To produce a PDF book of at least 35 images in any consecutive 31 day period from 1st July - 31st August 2011. My book will be uploaded to the SoFoBoMo website on the 29th August at the end of my chosen 31 day period.
I have divided the period into four stages -
Week one - along with Sara Murphy further research and planning of the photo shoots
Week two - shooting on location at each farm, gathering information and extra research
Week three - shooting and commencing layout
week four - preparing images and text for publication

At the end of the project the book will be available for purchase (details to be finalised) while it is envisaged that as the book is still in a fluid state we will be able add stories, history and historical images gathered during the project and at a later date produce a more detailed edition.
